Inventorium Sepulchrale
by The Rev. Brian Faussett

The cemetery excavations carried by the Rev. Brian Faussett during the years 1757 to 1773 represent one of the most important sources of information for early excavations of Anglo-Saxon cemeteries in Kent.

The finds, together with Faussett’s manuscript notes passed into the hands of Joseph Mayer. The notes were edited by Charles Roach Smith and published in London in 1865 under the title “Inventorium Sepulchrale".

Unfortunately, this volume has been out of print for many years, and this website is an attempt to make an important archaeological document freely available to researchers.

The work is ongoing and only those sections that are available have valid links.
